Currently recharting on a tooth - (eg caries on a tooth that previously had caries on the same surface) causes deletion of the original charting (which might be from years ago) ...which is a fairly serious medicolegal issue - now it appears that the patient medical records have been altered and are incomplete, effectively Dentally has deleted the dentist’s notes and is leaving the dentist open to litigation due to missed diagnosis / poor record keeping, and has made the charting confusing to use and less useful because the old record is absent. The auto delete function might be useful when charting ...but should perhaps be limited to deleting only recently charted items - ie in the last hour or 24 hours.
Are there any plans to add notes and bleeding to BPE
any codes for emax fits anyone please?
Guys, new users of Dentally here. So far loving it but I have inadvertently placed a ‘special needs’ icon on a patient. How do I remove it. Thanks peeps
How are others charting IFAL cases? We still have patients visiting for hygiene and maintenance appointments, I’m curious how others use dentally for this.

We have moved from Exact to Dentally recently, we were not told, and didn’t think to ask that there is no Denplan tab on Dentally. We used this on exact for scoring and banding patients and for oral health scores. For our Denplan excel assessments this all needs to be recorded, how do other practices do this after moving to Dentally? Well need to go back to paper forms for scoring and banding, but how can we complete oral health scores?
The treatment and base chart menu make putting thing on the chart a lot quicker but is there a reason why they are oriented the way they are? When hovering over the upper teeth the chart is projected downwards covering the lower teeth and vice versa. This makes it annoying to swap between the upper and lower arch quickly.
On the concierge app it will only show the MH if it is due to be completed (older than 6 months)- sometime we get patients that have had medical changes and need to complete the MH again before the 6 month mark. It is fine doing it in surgery verbally but when there has been big changes we really need to be able to give them the iPad and get them to do it themselves. I understand that we can email the patient a link etc but when they are elderly or don't have their phone on them extra it is much easier doing on the tablet. Please can you look into if there is a way of the pt updating their MH even if it is less than 6 months.
Could the medical history be updated with options for anxiety and depression on med history form please
Will it be possible to add a dropdown field in the patients notes? For example, we want to include the reason code when a patient has a scan taken and want to make this simple to do (and difficult to omit). There is a list of standard responses we want the clinicians to use rather than free text/personal choice. In other forms packages you can set these up as a dropdown selection, I wonder if Dentally will go this way.
Would it be possible to have an individual login set up so when that individual puts treatment on the plan it auto populate with their associated template notes?
Small feature that could use a very easy update. I have a large volume of template notes to slot into the discussion portion of my exam notes for different situations but every time I insert a new template note it automatically gets placed at the top of the exam note rather than where my cursor is (ie where I want it inserted). Barring making shortcuts for all of my template notes this means a lot of copying and pasting to get the inserted note where I want it on the page.
If ‘Prevent Price Change’ is set for a treatment item, is there any level of user that can override it in the chart? For example, can a Level 4 user override it?We’d like to prevent clinicians from changing the prices in general, but allow administrators to override them in the chart.
Hi is it possible to do a lab work tab within dentally (maybe next to chart) . The little feature you have is ok but a tab would be great. somewhere you could document:tooth/prosthesis - lab sent to - date sent/received/ completed with an area to upload the lab docket: Would be great if all this information was stored together so that if there was a future issue we could find the information instantly. If this linked to reports, even better. Thanks
Is there a tab within dentally where you can document the hygiene prescription from a dentist that enables you at a glance to see when the prescription expires?
Hi all,I wondered what everyone's process for recording Lab Work is and if anyone has a good way of using the new Lab Work Log. I don’t see it being very helpful with just the “Sent, Received, Overdue” feature as it doesn’t give any details.Ideally we would have things like which Lab was used, date due back and description of the lab work. We currently use a custom waiting list for this but want it all in one place.Any suggestions from users or updates from Dentally regarding improvements on this feature would be great. Thanks!
Addition of other items for the root status should be added, such as Apical abscess/infection (PA lesion), and root fracture (VRF). Variations on location of cracks that are more distinct and unique, including options for location i.e. buccal crack lingual crack mesial or distal. Following that thought process having UI that indicates fractures of restorations or parts of teeth. A specific icon/UI change for unsatisfactory restorations or restorations with secondary caries. Even variations to RCT such as overfill or underfill or unsatisfactory. Preferably all three. I believe these items will help ensure a comprehensive picture of a patients current dental status.
Hi is there a plan to have a consent tab at all? To make it easier for patients to sign
HelloJust wondering if is there currently a way to view patient images (e.g. XRays on dentally) and type clinical notes at the same time in Dentally? At the moment, I find myself switching back and forth between the notes section and the image viewer on dentally to cross-reference findings and confirm what I’m writing. It is a bit cumbersome, especially during XRay/OPT interpretation or when reviewing multiple images.Would it be possible to introduce a floating or resizable image window that stays visible while typing notes? I think this would be a really helpful feature for many of us in practice. Keen to hear if others have found a workaround or if this is something already on the roadmap.Thanks.
Hi, Is it possible to remove a watch from charting if it was put on as a treatment and completed rather than put on as a base chart item. I’ve just tried to remove a watch by clicking on TP in the history search, but the item is locked.
Hi The charting function has changed recently for retained roots. Restorations previously charted have disappeared from the chart and it is not possible to chart a new filling. The only way I have found to chart a restoration is to remove the retained root status. Can this be fixed, please?
Would it be possible to have the “template notes” button in the text boxes when creating an estimate? (body, footer, payment terms) this would allow addition of treatment specific consent information text to be added to estimates with a few shortcut keystrokes. Would massively streamline getting relevant consent from a signed estimate.
Top 3 tips to make life easier x
‘watch’ has disappeared from my hoverboard and also from the list of treatments - cannot find where it is to add to charts now - help please!!
