API webhook for invoices

I’ve noticed that it is possible to delete paid invoices from Dentally. On the API there is no webhook for invoices so I wanted to ask if there are any plans for an invoices webhook so I can be notified if an invoice is deleted or any other sort of workaround to handle this case?

Patient custom_fields

Hi all,Using the dentally sandbox application we have the option to add ‘custom_fields’ to a patient entity. These fields can then be updated from the patient view. But I can’t find the way to create the ‘custom_fields’ via the public API.Similarly when trying to update a patient, passing along the ‘custom_fields’ property does not update the values set.I’m trying to have a Dentally user set some custom value’s on the patient entity that can be accessed by a 3rd party application. Using the API we use the ‘metadata’ property but the Dentally user has not access to that. And vice versa the API has no access to set  the ‘custom_fields’ but the Dentally user can.Is there a possible workaround for this?

Appointment Reason

Hello all,Using the dentally sandbox application we are able to create a new appointment reason.But looking through the dentally API documentation, I can’t find a endpoint to do this using the API?Are there any alternative solutions for this?Thank you for your time.Kind regards,Jens

Logging voicemails

Hiya, Is there anywhere we can log a voicemail left for the patient, in corrospondence it only has a log a phonecall and i don’t want to do it in notes ideally. Thanks

New Accounts View & Stripe

HI DentallyWe are using the new accounts tab and I needed to refund 3 stripe deposits.  On the old accounts view, the Stripe link was hyperlinked, so when you hit, took you to the actual stripe tranasction, to refund or amend. on the new accounts view there is no stripe hyperlink that I can find.  Can you help?  Am I missing it, or is it not there.  it was very useful. Without it, I need to log into stripe, and scroll through transactions to find it, and with 5 clinics, it can be time comsuming.  Today I just went back to old accounts view, used link and done in 3 clinics. RegardsEamonn

Refunding Online Booking Deposits

Hi We are getting great uptake on Dentally online portal, where patients can cancel and book new appointments which is easier for patients, who work same hours and forget to reschceule, so can now do it themselves online.  we have set to allow them to cancel before 48 hours, withing that, they are prompted to call clinic. however, we now have many patients, where they have canceleld, and auto expect their deposit refudned, but the system is not able to do it. resulting in pts calling or emailing clinic, thinking we have REFUSED to refund them. ITs a quick step on stripe link to process this refund, but sometimes, patients will cancel apts weeks out, and we dont see it, and then they call demaning refund.  is it possible to allow auto refund via stripe, or add a note to refund auto txt  / email on dentally, ‘your appointment is now canceleld bla bla bla, if you have a deposit paid you will need to contact the clinic directly to arrange refund, or similar.  RegardsE

Hi Dentally team,We’re currently working with a number of practices who use Dentally and are exploring ways to streamline appointment workflows through external automation tools.I understand that partnerships are currently on hold, but I wanted to ask whether it’s possible to gain access to a Dentally sandbox environment for testing purposes, ideally with read-only API access to appointment and patient data.We’re not looking to make any changes within Dentally itself, just to better understand how data flows and how we might support mutual clients in the future.Any guidance or direction on how to proceed with sandbox access would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!WesleyCo-founder, Setterlysetterly.co

API Flag for Base Chart TPIs

Hi Dentally team and community,Following a recent support exchange, I’d like to propose a feature enhancement that could significantly improve data quality and audit processes for users integrating Dentally data into external systems like data warehouses.Context:Currently, TPIs (Treatment Plan Items) assigned via the “Base Chart” tab are not linked to a treatment plan and therefore have a NULL TP ID in both the API and exported data. While this is expected behaviour—as base charting is intended for documenting baseline dental status—it creates a challenge for downstream systems. Specifically, it becomes difficult to distinguish between:TPIs genuinely missing a TP ID due to ingestion or data quality issues, and TPIs that are correctly linked because they were assigned to a base chart.Feature Request:Could Dentally consider adding an explicit flag or indicator in the API response to identify TPIs that were created via the base chart? This would allow users to:Reliably filter and classify

Integrating with Apple Pay for bookings

This morning I had some great feedback from a patient that it would be faster and more convenient to be able to book online with Apple pay (when paying a deposit - which we have found has helped immensely with managing cancellation/DNA rates). I can see the value in this as some people when booking online on their mobile (the majority of people, I assume from general desktop vs mobile device activity) are on the go, and being able to leave their payment details quickly with Apple pay would be really useful. Potentially even secure some extra patients if we can make it more convenient and quick for them to book...

Hi,According to the audit data, the following endpoints are currently unavailable via the API: Audit Notes Tasks CaseMixes AutoCorrespondence Email Letter PatientChartImage PatientDocument PatientExemption PerioBpr TextMessage Specialists As a result, there's no way to access or query this data programmatically from the backend. Could you advise if there are plans to expose these endpoints, and if so, what the expected timeline might be?Each of these areas is of strategic importance to our service. For context, here’s how these endpoints are particularly useful for our organisation: Audit – Essential for tracking changes to patient data for governance and accountability. History of opening times per practice

Hi all, In the API I can retrieve current opening hours per practice through the sites endpoint. Is there also a way to retrieve historical data for the opening times? Or even just the mutations of the opening hours?

Logging SMS Correspondence without sending the text message via Dentally

Hi,I would like to know if there is a way to use an external SMS system and log such correspondences against a patient’s record in Dentally through portal  or API. Currently, when I try to add a new SMS correspondence from portal, it automatically sends the SMS through Dentally. Is there an option to manually log an SMS without triggering one from Dentally’s system? We are exploring options for integrating an in-house SMS system and would like to ensure proper record-keeping within Dentally.Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!Thanks!

Invoice items endpoint

Hi, i've been trying to import my invoice items for all of 2024 using the API, but so far it's a quite slow process. The API doesn't seem to allow me to import chunks of data (an updated_before parameter would be sufficient), so i've resorted to taking all invoice id's from the invoice table and calling the invoice items per invoice.The problem with this is that this costs me one API call per invoice. For all of 2024 that's going to take forever.Is there a better way to get the invoice item data?For context, what i'm trying to achieve is to link treatment id's to the payment allocations table. So far my route has been to link payment allocations through the invoice item id to a treatment plan item, which has a treatment id linked to it. If there's a smarter way of approaching this i'd be happy to hear about it.

Dengro Integration

Some things that I’d like you for the Dengro integration 1. When I see an existing patient (when using Dentally) and they express an interest in a treatment I want to be able to create a lead on Dengro by pressing a prompt on Dentally - he prompt should include what treatment the patient is interested in and when that lead should be chased up again.It is frustrating that with the current integration I have to create a new lead on Dengro by manually adding all the data. It is only much later when the patient is ready to book an appointment for the treatment that I can sync the data - this is too late. 2. When a new lead is captured by Dengro there should be a prompt or message on Dentally to tell the reception team to look at it.The receptionist’s attention is generally on Dentally and not Dengro so leads would be followed up much more quickly if this was to happen Does anyone share these frustrations or have any ideas to work efficiently between the two systems??

Hi - we’ve spotted Correspondences being added as an (undocumented) scope to the API in the OAuth process. Is this a new object and if so how can we access it?Being able to read and write correspondence and/or basic pop-up notes would be a huge help.

Is the Dentally API 2 way?

Hi allHope everyone is wellWe want to update out CRM to allow us to sync booked leads with denally, but unsure if Dentally’s API is 2 way. We spoke to a company that claims to help, but they didn’t!Does anyone have information on this. Many thanks

Has anyone been able to find any software that is compatible with dentally to automate your patient report segments upload to the likes of Hubspot/ Mailchimp so I don’t have to manually upload CSV files every week/month?

Integration with more POS solutions

I am pushing for our POS and payments provider to integrate with Dentally, do you have any more on your roadmap other than Dojo and Worldpay, and what could be done to accelerate this if possible?We would like invoices to show up on the till without having to be manually typed in for payment, with the line items matching the invoice.Thanks

Adding call data to patient correspondence without going via Dentally mailbox

Keen to understand if and when it would be possible to log call data directly into a patients correspondence record without having to send it to the Dentally mailbox first which is what we have to do at present, or if this is being looked at or developed in the roadmap?We also produce documents that we have to dump then attach to patient records, if this could go straight in without a two step process this would be best. ThanksHarry

Incremental updates for rota diaries

Hi all, It seems that the rota diaries api endpoint does not have an option to only request diaries that have been updated recently. Right now i have to run a full load every time i want to make sure my rota diaries are up-to-date. Is there a different method required to get incremental updates for rota diaries, or is this not a possibility now?

API treatment_plans endpoint parameters not working

Hi all, i'm trying to read treatment plans that were created between january 1 and january 4. Per the API documentation i call the endpoint like so:https://api.dentally.co/v1/treatment_plans?created_after=2024-01-01&created_before=2024-01-04 However, this returns all treatment plans. The first record returned has a created_at value of 2024-10-10 (today). No matter what dates i enter for created_after and created_before, it always gives me the same response. Am i doing something wrong here? Or is there a bug in the Dentally API?
