I use Dentally API access to create custom reports, but have found v1 lacking in areas. I understand the “NexGen API” that has been promised for sometime has been released (congrats). When and how can we practice principals begin to use it? I can’t find the NexGen API documentation, and the v1 API documentation makes no mention of it as far as I can tell.

Hello! Thanks for your question. Practice-owned and managed access will come a short while after launch day as part of the practice integration platform. This will allow practices to get credentials within Dentally for themselves.

We are releasing APIs in groups over time, meaning we do not currently have parity with v1 endpoints. This could mean that the functionality available for the endpoints you need for custom reports aren't available just yet.

The API documentation outlining the endpoints available and how to use them (focused on developers in particular), are available at https://docs.api.dentally.com/. Please note however, that until the Practice Integration Platform is released we will be unable to provide access to NextGen APIs.

In the meantime you can also email dentallypartnerships@henryscheinone.com with the subject line 'NextGen API access' so we can provide you with your NextGen API credentials and look into getting you access after it goes live.
