I am very happy with the addition of the new Orthodontic Assessment tab within the patient chart. To further refine Dentally’s orthodontic functionality and better reflect the differences between general dental and orthodontic workflows, I would like to propose the following features under the ortho tab on the patient chart. 1. Modifiable Orthodontic Assessment The new assessment layout is a great start but appears tailored toward a UK-style orthodontic examination. I would appreciate the ability to customise this tab, similar to how custom fields in treatments can be configured. If the existing tab is required for automated UK claims submission, perhaps a separate custom orthodontic assessment option could be introduced for other users. 2. Orthodontic Progress AppointmentsProgress appointments in orthodontics are typically brief, focusing on key clinical details such as: Buccal segment relationships Overjet and overbite Archwires and elastics Broken/replaced brackets and wire
If a patient has multiple appts in one day, when you click on one of them on the scheduler, there should be some indication the patient has multiple appts Same if a family is coming in. Easily see on one patient (i.e. the mom) if there’s any other family members due for recare/treatment/hygiene On the appt tab, see other family members appts at once (especially children)
Hi team,Having the functionality to schedule an SMS or email to go out at a certain time (particularly SMS) would really help in practice management. We find for example, during business hours, as many people are busy or working they do not reply to our calls or messages sometimes. One of my staff members actually tested the theory and found the “golden hour” for confirming appointments etc is after work hours from 6.30 onwards - hence I’d like to propose the ability to schedule SMS’s especially to go out later - so that staff do not have to stay back to do so, but we can catch patients at the optimal time.Even for things like social media, the 7-8pm and beyond window is one of if not the most active period of the day - reflecting people’s behaviours and ability to take in information at this time of the day. I believe sending out correspondence at this time when people have the time/ability to engage with it would be really effective.
Putting 'pt satis' in clinical note templates will automatically change to 'enough for you' when you press save
Very appreciative to have Dentally integrating voice-to-text AI notetaking. I believe this is in Beta testing mode - my apologies if it has not been rolled out to everybody yet. However, it was noted during the training session that Dentally’s AI note-taking abilities do NOT include ambient listening during the appointment. This means that the clinician is still required to dedicate time to both creating templates for Dentally AI to work with, and also to input content for each appointment albeit using dictation. Overall, this saves minimal time for the clinician. Does Dentally intend to provide an ambient listening capability? Or do you have suggestions of how to incorporate software such as Heidi into the Dentally interface?
I wanted to be able to filter by last contact method. I.E. If I’ve done all manual calls, I don’t want to see patient’s who’ve had a manual call. I want to filter to see who was contacted by the auto email/sms so I can call them manually.
Can we please have medical alert icons appear in the calendar view of appointment bookings? We have had an instance of a patient who came in for his appointment but had to be turned away and rescheduled due his needing antibiotic prophylaxis which had not been administered. His medical needs are noted when you open his profile, but because no one opened his profile in advance of his appointment the doctor had not been alerted to prepare an antibiotic script in advance. If it was obvious from the calendar view, I believe the issue would have been avoided. This is useful for individuals requiring ABs, anxious patients, and those with latex or chlorhexidine allergies.
Hi there, We’re looking to retrieve custom field data through reports. As far as I can see this, isn’t currently possible. We would ideally effectively use the custom fields as tags for marketing purposes and patient management. Two use-case examples would be:(Marketing) We add a custom field (checkbox) for any patients that are interested in Invisalign. From this we can then generate a report for marketing/re-targeting. (Workflow) We add a status field for referral tracking. We can then generate a report that tracks any outstanding referrals to follow-up on.If this is already achievable, apologies and could you please advise. If not, it would be great to see this functionality in the future. Thanks,Tom
Hi, I am getting used to Dentally but struggling to find a report that works for collecting debt. I am able to get all historical and current debt that is owing but only want to see last months.I have clicked next appointment and selected unknown, I have also edited the days on account debt.I want to see completed treatment where they owe for last month, what is the best way?
Hi all, One thing (and most likely the only thing) we miss from SOE Exact is the automated short notice list. We get so much whitespace over weekends and Bank Holidays as pts cancel their appts via sms or the portal. Before Dentally our system automatically filled the gap with someone on the list, now we have to keep a huge list using Microsoft Lists of all the pts wanting a short notice appt and manually call them. For a 10 surgery practice this takes up so much time for my reception teams to be checking the list if they see a gap, it would be so much easier if Dentally did it for us. I spoke to someone at a Elevate a while ago who “assured” me and my colleague that it was in the pipeline but that was nearly 2 years ago. I wondered what other people are doing and if Dentally have any plans to prioritise this over other smaller “non essential” updates they are applying. 😁Dont get me wrong, Dentally is the best investment we made as I can work from anywhere, as Operations Manager, that
When sending an API request for practitioner appointment availability, I get the error below.{"error": {"type": "invalid_request_error","message": "The appointment could not be processed","params": {"practitioner_ids": ["seem to be missing"]}}} HTTP request:GET https://api.dentally.co/v1/appointments/availability?practitioner_ids%5B%5D=43372&duration=5&start_time=2025-11-07T12:00:11+00:00&finish_time=2025-12-06T12:00:11+00:00 All parameters as per API docs, Authorisation, Application type and user-agent valid. I have used the cURL from the API docs and changed the ID and dates for sanity checks but still get the same error.Practitioner ID valid and active. Please refer screenshot and advise.
Dear Dentally Team, I would like to suggest the creation of a new report (or an adjustment to the existing one) that separates service credits from sundries.Currently, both are coming together in the same category, which makes it difficult to obtain an accurate monthly report for sundries.Having these two items reported separately would make the monthly reports much clearer and improve the accuracy of our financial tracking. Please let me know if this is something that could be implemented, or if there’s already a way to generate such a report that I might have missed.Thank you very much for your attention and support.
How do I increase the number of boxes/selection in the hover chart from 2*5 to 3*6? Can you add a RED A for abcess, RED I for inection, RED S for sinus and RED # for fracture Change watch W to a RED W
Does anyone know if there is a way to search for something specifically in the previous notes? There was a search function on Exact where you could type, for example, ‘UR2’ and you could then see all notes mentioning the tooth. If this is not possible, could this function be added?
Hi,I regularly run reports in Dentally but have noticed that, even when I believe I’m applying the same filters, the results can vary. I was wondering if a feature could be added—similar to the ‘Patients’ report—that allows filters to be saved. This would save a lot of time and ensure consistency, helping us generate the most accurate data possible. For example, it would be useful to have saved reports per clinician for outstanding treatment plans, or a saved report for unallocated invoices.Kind regards,Bonnie
Hey everyone! We know managing consent forms and estimates can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore, but we all know how important it is to get right. It’s not just about ticking boxes—it’s about making sure your patients feel informed, understood, and confident in their treatment. 💬 Here are a few helpful things you can try: • Go Digital: Are you using digital consent forms and estimates? They’re super efficient, reduce errors, and make it easier to track everything in one place.• Save Time with Cloud Storage: Digital forms are saved directly to the cloud, meaning they’re always accessible from the patient’s record. No more spending hours scanning and filing paperwork!• Make It Convenient for Patients: With digital forms, patients can sign electronically via the Portal or the Concierge app, making the process smoother for everyone. What’s been working for you when it comes to consent forms and estimates? Any challenges with Dentally or tips you want to share? We’d love to hear your t
Dear Dentally Team,I wanted to suggest a small improvement that would make a big difference to how we work at reception. At the moment, when a dentist calls a patient into the surgery, the only indication we receive is a small status change to the letter “S”. This is very easy to miss, especially during busy times, and it means we have to constantly monitor the screen to avoid missing it. It would be extremely helpful to have a clearer notification for reception—such as a pop-up window when a dentist calls a patient. This would make the communication between reception and the clinical team much smoother and ensure patients are called promptly and efficiently. We believe this small addition could really improve the workflow for practices using Dentally.Thank you. Best regards, Kamila
Hi we suddenly unable to use dentally. The system started to disconnect itself from the x ray bridging on Monday. Then it lost its connection by the end of Tuesday. We have no problem going on google browser. We have tried using the advice on advice message. Can you dial in and check the system please?
Hi team, We have the Dashboard where we can see a forecast of our practitioner utilisation (commonly referred to as CTU or chair time utilisation), which is really helpful for practice management. However, to my knowledge, there is nothing to review historical CTU which is a major gap for practice management. Or if I am missing where it is already there, please point it out to me on Dentally as it would be really helpful. One of the key metrics for any business is productivity of resources, and CTU is a key element of practice productivity. I have heard that your add-on software lets you access this, however I think its a huge gap that Dentally does not let you report on historical CTU as a very basic metric for practice performance. Also not to mention, I am aware from some peers that several competitor software platforms do offer this in the standard offering. It should be a standard metric given in the software - The data is already available through the calendar (available hours), an
Can the box that pops up in log a call be tick boxes versus a drop down menu? It’s more clicking to click for example under “direction” click there to get to the next option of “outbound” if everything was a tick box, rather than drop down, it would be faster.
Hi everyone is there a way to set minimum appointment duration times with each appointment reason? Also can it be more user friendly as most of our dentists who have been working in the industry for the past 40 years are not finding it easy to use.
Instead of the small symbols by the patients name, would it be possible to have the appt change colour in accordance to their status. to better manage and see when people are late or havent been checked in.Some recent technical issues have caused appts to be missed and patients having to reschedule.
It’s very confusing to know if we are selecting the right NHS codes as we cannot see the number of UDAs the individual items and whole COT is worth. please can you add features so that we can see the total UDA value for the entire treatment plan, and see individual UDA values for each treatment item within the plan
Hi all, When trying to update an existing waitlist entry object via the API by assigning an appointment id to the object, it never assigns the appointment id to the waitlist entry. It always returns the waitlist entry object with null as appointment id. Is this a known issue or is there a way to update a waitlist entry to say that it has a booked appointment? Cheers,
Hi all, When trying to update the status & patient_id of an appointment via the Dentally API we get the following message.{ "error": { "type": "invalid_request_error", "message": "The appointment could not be processed", "params": { "state": [ "The appointment can not be updated as the current status is: Confirmed" ], "patient_id": [ "can not change patients" ] } } }However when getting that appointment we are trying to update the state is still "state": "Pending"Updating only the state works, but not updating the patient_id.Would there be a workaround for this? Or what is the specific reason we cannot update the patient_id via the API?
