As part of the CCN77 update, the NHSBSA has introduced a set of new treatment codes in England and Wales to reduce the use of the ‘Other Treatment’ category. These codes came into effect on 1st August 2025.

The new codes are:

  • 9380 – Soft Tissue Surgery (Band 2)

  • 9381 – Non-Laboratory Made Appliance/Splint (Band 2)

  • 9382 – Laboratory Made Splint (Band 3)

  • 9383 – Crown Refix with Post/Core Retention (Band 1)
(Note: Code 9383 is only for refixing crowns, not new crowns.)

These codes have already been added to your service list so you can claim them straight away on any treatment plan started after 1st August 2025.

However, if you prefer you can also edit your existing services via ‘Settings’ > ‘Treatments & Plans’ to have the updated ‘Category’ and ‘Bands’ for the items above.

The obturators treatment is now supported too, so you can submit the existing 9309 code for Upper Acrylic Denture without the need for any teeth to be charted.

To avoid claims responses or rejections, these treatments should not be submitted using an item with the ‘Other Treatment’ category after 30th November 2025.

CCN79 also brings some updates to the way Orthodontic claims are processed. We have made these changes in the background so there is nothing for you to change - but do keep an eye on your claims while this settles in.
