Hi

Do Dentaly have any plans to improve the Xero integration?

If a site is a single practice it works really well but multi sites who have seperate bank accounts for each practice, it doesnt work for as Dentally sends one massive invoice for the whole business to Xero. Would be nice to have better integration including xero’s invoicing system

Hi @RegentStreet85  👋

You’re absolutely right that the current Xero integration works well for single-site practices, but can feel a bit limiting when working across multiple sites with different bank accounts. It’s definitely something we’ve heard from a few other multi-site practices as well.

While it hasn’t yet been prioritised for development, it’s super helpful to have your perspective added here as it all contributes to building the case for future improvements. I’ll make a note of your interest against the existing request too!

Keep the ideas and feedback coming, it really helps us understand what matters most in your day-to-day!

This is interesting - I wasn’t aware there was an integration with Xero! Is this basically to “push” the total sales figure through to Xero to reconcile with the bank account? Are there any info guides available?

Hi @Anne-Maree Siderides!

Yes! With the Xero integration Dentally will take all of the payments that have been recorded and at the end of each day it will create an invoice in Xero. The invoice will group your payments by payment plan and payment method.

Once the payments arrive in your bank account you can then easily reconcile them against the invoice that Dentally created.

You can find more info in our help centre article or directly within Dentally in Settings > Integrations 😊

Hi. We just moved to Denally and the xero integration restricts any amendments to accounts in dentally if linked to xero. How would this work. we had for example a receptionist put £4000 on the system instead of £400 and we cant delete or amend this as its integrated with Xero? We were told by support there is no way even level 4 user can amend with the integration? Is this the case. If so would make the integration redundant as mistakes will happen on the front desk. Can i have some advice please?

We’re also having this issue too. I was really excited about the xero integration but after realising we’re unable to amend any mistakes, I have had to disconnect Xero for now. Awaiting a response about this too!

Thank you both for taking the time to share feedback, and thank you for your patience while we looked into this. We wanted to have a better understanding of the issue before responding.

We're aware there are issues with the current integration and understand that these are causing frustration. We don't have a timeline yet for improvements but please be assured it's on the radar.

The instance you've both referenced, of not being able to amend payments, is intentional - we apply auto-locking in order to avoid mismatches between Xero and Dentally, so your records are accurate. However we recognise that this has created challenges as a result.

We are exploring ways to improve this workflow - but in the meantime, there may be workarounds which can allow you to fix errors like this. It's worth noting that making changes outside of the integration can cause discrepancies between Dentally and Xero, so we'd recommend speaking to your practice accountant before doing so. @Kishan Patel someone from support is going to reach out to help you with this, so please look out for a message from them.

We recognise that a better solution is needed so thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hi Alex,

Rather than the accounts being automatically synced could their be some sort of function whereas the Practicr Manager has time to review the end of day accounts & then can send for submission once they have been amended (if needed). Or could there be a delay in the automatic submissions like weekly? Just to give time for any amendments to be made.

Whilst I understand in an ideal world there shouldn’t be any inaccuracies when it comes to the accounts, there will always be human error. The receptionist can simply mistype when entering a payment & then not being able to amend this causes issues.

Thanks

Hi. Thank you for your response. I did speak with xero and they said the integration was set up form the dentally end. So if your team reaches out. maybe we can have a talk with our accountant to see what information they would need and find useful that will come in from the software to xero. I look forward to speaking with you about this. Thank you.

hi @Alex Jones our biggest thing would be that it needs to sync to both of our practices and when it does we need to be able to amend payments etc and it update xero automatically.

I have also spoken to Xero and they said the API is there, Dentally just need to disacuss their requirements was the words i got back.
