It would be extremely useful to have the option to filter or break down the Monthly Accounts report by treatment category, allowing practice managers and administrators to accurately track income from specific services such as Orthodontics and Implants
While other Dentally reports allow us to analyse income by treatment category, these reports are dynamic and can change retrospectively as payments are allocated.
For example, if an orthodontic invoice is raised in August but the patient pays 50% in September, other reports may attribute that payment to August rather than September, when the payment was actually allocated.
The Monthly Accounts report provides a fixed accounting record, making it much more reliable for monthly financial reporting and reconciliation. However, it currently lacks the flexibility to break down income by treatment category.
Suggested improvement:
-
Introduce an optional treatment category filter or breakdown within Monthly Accounts.
-
Display invoiced amounts and payments allocated against each treatment category.
-
Attribute allocated payments to the month in which they were allocated, rather than the original invoice month.
-
Retain the fixed accounting figures so historical monthly totals do not fluctuate.
-
Allow the breakdown to be exported for reporting purposes.
This would significantly improve financial reporting for practice managers and administrators, particularly when monitoring high-value services with instalment payments.
It would combine the reliability of Monthly Accounts with the treatment-level detail available in other reports, removing the need for time-consuming manual reconciliation and providing a more accurate picture of monthly income by service.
