We’ve just converted to Dentally.  Does anybody allocate petty cash in the finances?  We’re wondering the best way to do it in the system?

Many thanks

Hi @Sammy Mac , welcome to Dentally 👋

Petty cash isn’t managed as a separate balance or account within Dentally at the moment. Cash that comes in or goes out is typically reflected through transactions and end-of-day cashing up, rather than being allocated to a dedicated petty cash pot.

Most practices handle this by:
    •    Recording any cash movements as transactions, and
    •    Using the Takings / End of Day reports to reconcile cash held in the practice.

That said, “petty cash” can mean slightly different things depending on how a practice works, so it might be worth checking whether you’re looking to track day-to-day cash spend, cashing up, or something else entirely.

As you’ve just moved over to Dentally, I’d recommend starting a chat with Dentally's support team, where the onboarding team can talk through the best setup based on how you run finances and make sure everything’s configured correctly from the start.

Hope that helps, and welcome again!
