I’ve had a chat with our head of design and she confirmed we're going to switch to simple Initials for default profile pics. I don’t have a timeline yet but I’ll slot this into the ‘In progress’ column of our widget. Thanks again for sharing your feedback! 😊

Will it have the option to change the image ourselves then?

just as the next problem will be until recently I had 3 clinicians with first name J and I have 2 hygienists both starting with A.

I feel like this will still create the same confusion but in a different way.

Hopefully it will be better than the current patterns. or just allow the option to remove all together?

I believe it will be both initials but let me double check with our design team.  I’m not entirely sure on uploading your own images, I’ll confirm and then I’ll update this post 😊

Yes, we’re currently working on improvements to the profile picture component. The next phase will introduce profile icons with coloured backgrounds that show double or triple initials.

This should make it easier to distinguish between practitioners at a glance — even when they share the same first initial.

For now, only users can upload or change profile pictures for patients. In a future update, we’ll also add the option for users to choose from a set of ten background colours, as well as the ability to upload profile pictures for staff.

Yeah if we can’t remove the boxes all together, than even just the option of selecting different block colour backgrounds would be great.
