We do not have an integrated referral system in our area at the moment (we have been told there is one in the pipeline but that has been mentioned for the last 10 year)
We still have to use Exact to email off all our referrals to our local NHS hospital trusts because there are also issues about sending patient sensitive data from any other email other than an NHS one and they will NOT accept patient referrals from anything other than NHS email address.
Has anyone managed to get some integration into Dentally to be able to receive or send emails from an NHS email address in Dentally.
I spoke to support and was told that the NHS mail may need to configure the MX records but I have spoken to IT guys and they don’t know anything about being able to do that or I have the email just bounced back saying its not something they can help with.
It is a real problem for us and means we have to run Exact concurrently with dentally at pretty much all times and of course if we now get a new patient that needs a referral we have to log them on BOTH systems to send off a referral - which is quite ridiculous. .
At the moment we have to manually forward all return referral letters from Exact back over to Dentally also so it involves having to constantly check both inboxes. I was persuaded to move from Exact to Dentally as it was meant to be much easier and better being cloud based. So far we can’t properly move away from Exact and have to be still linked to our server to sort emails and referrals amongst other things.
Just wondered if it is just me or if anyone has been able to use NHS emails successfully in conjunction with Dentally. I logged it as a big problem for us back in October but apart from changing the MX records (whatever that is which the NHS mail IT team bounces back and many IT guys don’t seem to know about) So wanted to know if I am just stuck or if someone out there has managed it.
Many thanks
