We have raised before the issue of emergency contact information at every training session Dentally did with our practices.

The portal always asks the patients to update their emergency contact information.

This information doesn't appear to show anywhere on dentally for the practice to see. Meaning the patient believes we have their emergency contact when in fact we have no way to see it.

We were always told to just add this information into a custom field, not ideal but apparently Dentallys solution. You have now moved that custom field into its on box that you have to click into to see it, it doesn't appear on the patient screen now.

This box also does have a UDC yes/no box which would actually be helpful as we have run these schemes for a couple of years now. but again pointless to select as it doesn’t show anywhere useful.

But I believe the emergency contact info should be a priority for dentally to look into.

Our current solution is hoping the patient has a previous form filled in from our last pms that always had this information on it.

Hi - you should be able to see this information on the patient’s details page / tab?

If not, maybe you need to change to the new layout at the top of the details page?   I’m saying this whilst away on holiday so not logged in but it’s definitely there.

Hi @Jordan, thanks for your post. @BCDC2023 is absolutely correct, you can gather emergency contact information in the patient record! You just need to adjust your view to the new details screen - click ‘Try new form’ at the top of the ‘Details’ tab, and the fields should be visible.

We recommend the new screen, rather than the legacy form, because the horizontal layout allows for better visibility and more space for additional fields.

Thank you both,

We didn't have this option, but have spoken with dentally and they have now turned the feature on for us.

I however am a little reluctant to agree at the moment, will see if I get used to it. Myself and the team so far think the old layout was better as everything was on the screen and no need for scrolling, and think the horizontal layout looks better but lets see.
