I’ve recently come across a couple of children who’s accounts are “linked” to the account of a parent, but I can’t find a way to “unlink” them. I’ve tried changing the name on the patient screen but when I try to save the chnage it reverts back to the parent.

I can see why some practices might like this feature, but I don’t. It’s too confusing for an inexperienced Receptionist as it shows both patients’ charges and payments on both accounts.

Can anyone explain how to “unlink” these please?

Try this,

  1. Go to the parents account and click on “details”
  2. Scroll down to “family”.  Here you will see the children linked to the parents account.
  3. Next to the child’s name you will see what look like a “broken chain or a broken link icon”.
  4. Click on this “icon” and it should unlink the child from the parents acount.  If you hover over that “icon” you should see this message pop up “Remove this patient from the family”

Thanks for your reply.

Apologies, I didn’t make myself very clear - its the financial link I want to unlink, not remove them from the family group. Both the child and parent fees are showing on both financial screens (parent & child) - which is confusing, escpecially to my less experienced team members

• Switch back to the old patient details screen where the unlink feature works just fine.
