Hi guys,

We have prev used Exact and were able to do Denplan assessments through it (had a Denplan tab) in patients details etc. How do we now do that in Dentally?

Hi @Frazzled PM!

Dentally doesn’t currently have a native Denplan tab like EXACT. You can still record Denplan OHS/banding assessments in Dentally using a quick template-based workflow. We also have a similar feature request regarding Denplan, feel free to add your thoughts here:

If you’re in NHS Wales, Dentally supports ACORN via a custom-fields template attached to a treatment item. It’s helpful, but ACORN ≠ Denplan, different framework and outputs, so it won’t replace a Denplan OHS form one-for-one.

There’s two options to do Denplan assessments today:

A) Fastest - clinical note template

Create a reusable note template (SettingsTemplatesNotes) called “Denplan Assessment (OHS/Banding)” with fields such as:

• Exam date / Assessor

• OHS components (Restorations / Periodontal / Gingival)

• Total OHS & Band (A–E)

• Risk factors / Preventive advice

• Next review due

Clinician inserts the template during the exam; it’s saved in ChartHistory and easy to find later.

B) More structured - treatment item + custom fields

Create a treatment item “Denplan Assessment (OHS)” (SettingsTreatments & Plans → +Treatment), then add custom fields for the same OHS data. Add this item to the treatment plan and complete the fields; the completed assessment is saved in the patient record (and can be exported/printed if you need a copy for patients).

Optional extras:

• Upload your DEPPA/Denplan PDF to PatientDocuments.

• Add a discreet admin tag (e.g., Denplan patient) for quick reporting/lists.

Let me know if this helps ☺️

Pretty weak work around.

Standard in SFD.
