Does anyone have a list of compatable terminals for use with Worldpay in order to integrate with Dentally i.e. send payments directly from Dentally to the card machine please? I have seen A920 Pro mentioned but it is still vague as to whether this would work. I was told if it had a screen then it should be ok. Of course I purchased one with a screen and it didn’t. A list of terminals that would work is impossible to find from the Dentally end unfortunatley so anything that is being used would really be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Neil,

I look after payment integrations at Dentally, so happy to help clarify. For Worldpay, the main terminal currently used for Dentally’s free integration is the PAX A920 Pro.

It does need to be a compatible model specifically set up for integration, so not all terminals (even if they have a screen) will work in the same way.

If you’re unsure on your current setup, the best next step would be to check the exact model you have, or speak with Worldpay to ensure the terminal provided is the correct one for integration with Dentally.

If helpful, I’m more than happy to assist further or sense-check anything for you - just let me know 😊

Thanks Jasmine that’s really helpful. As mentioned, I was originally told that if I got one with a screen then it should be fine but when I went to use your integration set up I was told that the particular model I purchased for the very reason of integration would not work. Unfortunately nobody was able to provide me with a list of any terminal that would work so I’ve been going back and forth with Worldpay for the past 2 months. I stumbled upon the A920 Pro by chance and it sounds as though that will work so I will purchase this now.

Your support function states this;

We don’t have a published list of specific Worldpay terminal models that are supported with Dentally.

What we can confirm is:

  • Dentally does support Worldpay integration for card payments.
  • The setup is configured behind the scenes, rather than based on a fixed public list of devices.

So compatibility is confirmed case-by-case depending on how the terminal is configured with Worldpay, rather than the exact model name alone.

I really appreciate your response so I can now move forward with the A920 Pro.

Thanks, Neil

Thanks @Neil, I’m glad Jasmine’s guidance was helpful!

With regard to your experience trying to find this info, when you say you were told to purchase one with a screen - who told you that, was it someone at Dentally or someone at WorldPay?

I’ll look to update our public documentation to reflect Jasmine’s guidance above, but want to understand who advised you to try a different terminal which ultimately didn’t work for you

Hi Hebe,

Yes I was dealing with [Name redacted]. To be totally fair to [Name redacted] the advice was not absolutely 100% however nobody at WorldPay was able to help either and really it was just a case of give me any terminal name that’s being used by any other dental practice and I’ll get it. I would kind of expect that from Dentally side rather than WP given that you integrate it and must surely know of at least one other practice in the UK that uses the functionality. For transparency;

Hi [Name redacted],

Ahead of our meeting tomorrow I wondered if you could look into the requirements to link a card terminal up to Dentally. I know that your team can do this with WorldPay but I wondered if there were any terminal requirments?

Would Ingenico DX8000 (has WI-FI & Sim connectivity) work ok?

Thanks, Neil

Hey Neil,

We don’t have any specific terminals we recommend however they do need to be the ones with screens/touch screens which it does look like this one does. I’ve spoken with the team and they’ve advised to double check with WorldPay to ensure that one can be integrated with Dentally. From what I can see though, that one should be fine.

Kind regards,

[Name redacted]

To be clear I’m not looking to throw anyone under the bus but I’ve been trying for almost 2 months now to get a name of a terminal that will work. Hopefully as this is in the community now it will be of use to others.

Hi Neil, I manage the support team here at Dentally.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and I'm sorry you've not been able to find the info you needed until now. We can see there was a lack of appropriate information in both our Help Centre (which our AI support agent uses), and in the guidance given by our support team. I have personally fed this back to the team member you spoke to, as well as the rest of the team, and we're updating our documentation, to ensure this doesn't happen again. We apologise that you weren't provided with the right information before, but I'm glad Jasmine's guidance above has been helpful and you have what you need now.

Thanks for keeping us accountable and ensuring we are providing the right information.
