Can I ask how people are managing the X-ray information when the nurse is the operator and takes the X-rays.
The dentist is logged in to dentally but the nurses are not listed in the practitioner drop down. This means they are not being audited on their exposures…. Is the only way around this to make them practitioners? (Which is a Bit of a pain as then they come up on diary settings etc)

Hey @kelwills1  👋

The Operator drop-down is fed straight from the Practitioners list, so the moment a nurse needs credit for an exposure, she has to exist there. Giving her a Practitioner profile doesn’t mean you’re suddenly clogging the diary with extra columns. It’s fairly quick to set up:

Open Settings → Users → Practitioners, hit + New, pick the nurse’s existing user login (or create one first), choose Dental Nurse as the role, add a GDC number if you track it, and press Save. That’s literally it; her name now turns up in Vision’s Operator field and in the Radiograph Audit.

If you never want to see her column, flick the little eye icon at the top of the diary to hide it, or mark the nurse Inactive straight after saving. Both options drop the column but still leave her available for X-ray logging and audits.

From then on the nurse just chooses her own name when she fires the shot, and your audit trail shows exactly who took what. Some clinics stick a single “Nurse Team” practitioner in the list instead, but anyone who needs person-by-person radiation stats finds individual profiles are the way to go.

I’d love to hear how others manage this workflow, especially if you’ve found a slicker workaround or a policy that keeps the diary even cleaner. Feel free to comment below! 😊

Thank you so very much - that's precisely what I have done - however inactivating the nurse once added does take her away from the drop down list so best to leave them active.
