We have 2 NHS contracts, regular GDS for normal dentistry and a PDS for iMOS (Minor Oral Surgery on referral).

When our own regular GDS patients come for their appointments, they have to complete the FP17 / PR form either online before the appointment or on the ipad.  If that patient is then referred for Minor Oral Surgery (back to ourselves with the specialist) we are still required to ask that patient to do another FP17 / PR form as NHS require a new FP17 / PR form for each Course of Treatment (CoT).

Dentally however, does not offer the patient a chance to do the form a second time because it recognises the fact that “our” patient has already filled in the form.  It’s really frustrating as we waste a lot of time asking the patient to sign the form on the ipad for their referral appointment because they say the portal said there was nothing else for them to complete.

Hi @BCDC2023!

I can see why this is frustrating when patients think they’re all set, but then they have to sign again manually, which just slows everything down.

I believe there’s a way around this which allows you to invalidate the previous FP17/PR form in the patient’s record (under the NHS tab) and then create a new treatment plan for the referral appointment.

Once a new treatment plan is in place, Dentally will recognise it as a separate course of treatment and will require the patient to complete a new FP17/PR form via Portal. Could this be an option for you?

I’m tagging our Product Manager @Simon Guiver who may be able to confirm or add some details. Hope this helps!
