when submitting a course of treatment in Wales that includes an Acorn, it is being rejected if it has ‘prescription of fluoride toothpaste’ in the claim.

the prescription is generating a ‘miscellaneous’ claim, which is not ‘compatible’ with the claim.

does this item need to be ‘miscellaneous’? could it just have no claim attached so we can use it in a course of treatment?

Thanks @Rebecca James for your question - we are aware of some issues on the NHS's side relating to claiming certain miscellaneous packages alongside ACORN assessments, and at the moment we are awaiting further guidance from the NHS.

Knowing what type of assessment you are trying to claim would help with our enquiries with NHSBSA, can you share more info? Thank you

So when claiming ‘recall exam’ and ‘ACORN’, if you add a ‘miscellaneous e.g ‘fluoride toothpaste prescription’ or ‘crown recement’  from my experience the claim is rejected.
Also prescription of ‘fluoride toothpaste’ comes up with a charge for paying paying patients which it should not. It should not generate a charge as it is a preventative treatment which should included with other treatments for free.

Thanks @Rebecca James, I’ve passed this info onto the product team who have an open query with NHSBSA and are trying to get more information.

Regarding the prescription raising a charge, that doesn’t sound like expected behaviour. I’d advise speaking to our support team, so you can share specific patient examples securely, and they can raise a ticket to look into it for you.

Someone from the team will be in touch with you soon via support chat so please look out for a message from them!
