Is there a tab within dentally where you can document the hygiene prescription from a dentist that enables you at a glance to see when the prescription expires?

Hi @kelwills1 👋 Welcome to the Dentally Community!

Right now Dentally doesn’t have a built-in “Hygiene Prescription” tab that tracks an expiry date for you, but you can get the same visibility with a couple of quick tweaks:

  • You can create a short letter template called “Hygiene Prescription”. When you generate that letter from CorrespondenceNew Correspondence > New letter, it’s saved automatically to the patient’s Correspondence tab, so anyone can open the PDF later if the patient (or hygienist) needs a copy.

You can also make the expiry date impossible to miss by:

Adding a custom field
    •    Go to Settings > Practice > Custom Fields, click New Custom Field, choose Date and name it something like “Hygiene Rx Expiry”.
    •    That field appears in the top-right corner of the patient’s Details screen, so the expiry is visible at a glance and you can pull it into a Patients report whenever you need to see whose prescriptions are running out soon.

Using the built-in “Next hygienist recall” date

  • If you already rely on Dentally’s recall system, simply set the Next hygienist recall to the prescription’s end date. It lives under Preferences on the Details screen

Pinning a sticky note

  • For a quick visual flag, drop a note that says “Hygiene Rx valid until 12 Jan 2026” in the Notes tab, hit the little pin icon, and save. A pinned note pops up in the top-right corner of every tab for that patient, so nobody can miss it.

We haven’t had many requests for a dedicated hygiene-prescription area before, so I’m logging this and sharing it with our Product team for discussion. If a built-in tab would streamline things for you, that’s exactly the kind of insight they need. 😊

Thank you soo much for your response. I will see if the hacks help in the way the clinicians want.
