Hi,

I am a new small practice in my first 6 months and just working on building the patient list…..i was hoping to introduce a “recommend a friend code” for patients and their friend to benefit from a small discount.

Has anyone had any experience of using this feature or if it is even available?

Many thanks,

@Harry Leak @RegentStreet85 - I’m wondering if either of you have experiences with utilising friends/family discounts and how you have managed that in Dentally currently?

Yes, although it is all managed outside of Dentally, we use an app called Referabee - the buzzing referral webapp | referabee - this handles the codes / vouchers and you can use their web portal to redeem codes.

Only issue we have found is patients, especially the older generation cant get their head round it and keep doing it wrong, to be fair we have not rebooted it since launch ages ago but will be in 2025 and will be recording guides tailored for our patients and links to knowledge base to get this working better.

If a patient does refer they get a £25 treatment voucher per referee - they have to come in for a new patient exam and redeem it and the voucher gets automatically applied to their app.

We just use a pop up note on dentally to register the credit, as leaving it as unexplained causes issues as it comes off the next item that's charted through automatically, so we now discount the treatment instead using the credit as its charged through.

A better system for this in Dentally would be welcomed!

Hi Molly,

To be honest I have never had any dealings with it, but would be a good thing especially at Christmas when people want to gift teeth whitening.

Referabee also allows you to push out vouchers to your patients, so you could gift anything or give them a voucher for anything you like.

Good luck as you begin your journey!

We’ve found that a patient recommendation is really valuable and trusted, if you can harness these then it would invest in the long term. We have tried cards and have found QR codes via email have been useful.

We have an item in the Dentally record for acquisition source that captures word of mouth as a patient source and it is one of our higher success rate for conversions. Rather than a reduction for treatment for these we find a small gift such as flowers or even a simple handwritten Thank You card sent to the referring patient is appreciated.
