Are there plans to add a patient field for pronunciation? We would like to improve customer service by using their name correctly, and we could put this in the regular name fields in brackets but we do not want this to pop up in any letters or emails accidentally.

Hi @Stuart R  👋 love this idea!

I think this can fall into the wider ‘modern’ improvements our team is working on. I haven’t seen it suggested before so I’ll make sure to log it internally. If any other practices would like to see this, please add a comment below 😊

A workaround today would be  to either use one of the two Additional Fields on the patient record and relabel it to “Pronunciation” so the team can see it or add a short note in the yellow sticky on the patient, if you want it to be extra-visible to reception/clinicians without touching the formal name.

Hi @Stuart R 👋

I’m revisiting this request as our team is interested in gathering more details. Would the Preferred name field cover this, or do you need a separate pronunciation field that never appears in letters/emails? Preferred name can show in comms if your templates use it, so if you want a guide just for staff today you could either relabel one of the Additional fields to “Pronunciation” or add it to the yellow sticky for high visibility.

Let me know what would help most. 😊
