Hi All

Our dentists have come looking to see if its possible to have  2PA option on dentally vision, and wondering if any other clinics know of workaround, of it is something that perhaps Dentally can roll out.  We have an option for 1pa and 3pa, but no 2pa.

Hi @EamonnOMeachair,

I’ve reached out to our Product Manager on Vision to understand if there’s any option to enable 2PA as it’s something I’ve seen before and it may be possible to do. I’ll update the post as soon as I hear more 😊

One workaround would be to set it up via a custom procedure. You can follow this steps:

  1. Navigate to a patient and click Acquire images
  2. Under Imaging Procedures on the left, go to Custom and click Create Custom Procedure
  3. Enter a Procedure Name and Code
  4. Choose your image type (X-rays, Intraoral photographs, or Extraoral photographs)
  5. Use Add vertical or Add horizontal buttons to add 2 image tiles

When you have a tile selected, use the switching orientation icon to change from landscape to portrait orientation for each image tile. You can also set the order in which you acquire the images by choosing Set Order and selecting the images in your preferred sequence. And finally, once saved, this custom procedure will be available for future use.

Let me know if this helps! 😊

HI Saymon,

Thanks for your help.  We have just tired this now, but this will not work as we need, as we have to select the tooth on creation of this custom option, which then does not allow us to change.select other teeth for future acquisitions.

Have we done something wrong, or is there another way?

Regards

Eamonn

Hi @EamonnOMeachair

You’re right, it does force you to pick a tooth when you create it, however we can work around this and achieve the same:

  1. You can build the 2-PA procedure once following the same process you did before and when Vision forces you to pick placeholder teeth before it will let you save, you choose any two for now. Then you can star-favourite the procedure so it’s easy to find. When you need different teeth, you can quickly edit this placeholder (10-second tweak)
    • Custom tab → find your “2-PA” preset → click the little pencil ✏️ next to its name.
    • In the edit screen, click each tile’s tooth-edit icon and change the default tooth numbers for today’s exam.

    • Save and proceed with acquisition.

Vision lets you change the default tooth selection; you can’t add or remove tiles here, but that’s ok because it’s exactly what you need. Because you’re just overwriting the placeholders, the edit takes a few seconds and the procedure stays reusable.

One other alternative would be to:

  • Create a handful of 2-PA presets (e.g. “2-PA Anteriors”, “2-PA LL Posteriors”) so you’ve basically got all you need already set

I’ll make sure to flag this to our PM on Vision so she’s aware of your use case! Give the placeholder-edit trick a try and let me know if it does the job for you. 😊
