Improved Patient Call Notification for Reception

Dear Dentally Team,

I wanted to suggest a small improvement that would make a big difference to how we work at reception.

 

At the moment, when a dentist calls a patient into the surgery, the only indication we receive is a small status change to the letter “S”. This is very easy to miss, especially during busy times, and it means we have to constantly monitor the screen to avoid missing it.

 

It would be extremely helpful to have a clearer notification for reception—such as a pop-up window when a dentist calls a patient. This would make the communication between reception and the clinical team much smoother and ensure patients are called promptly and efficiently.

 

We believe this small addition could really improve the workflow for practices using Dentally.

Thanks for your feedback I understand that tiny “S” may be missed during a busy day at reception. A clearer visual cue or quick pop-up when a patient’s would make it more visible.

I haven’t seen this specific request raised before, so I’ll add it to our internal board for the product team to review. Out of curiosity, what kind of notification would you find most useful, something like a pop-up, a sound alert, or maybe a colour change on the list? That’ll help our designers understand what would work best in practice.

Thank you very much for reply. 

We would greatly appreciate the implementation of a pop-up notification feature that displays messages such as:

"[Dentist's name] is calling the patient [Patient name] to the surgery."

This functionality was available in our previous system, iSmile, under the name "Surgery Live," and it is the one feature we truly miss. It was extremely helpful, as the pop-up would appear even when we were working in other applications or browsing different websites, making it difficult to miss – which was ideal in a busy practice environment.

We would be very grateful if you could provide a similar feature in the current system.

Our old system, used to have a feature where the appointment would change colour, i also think this would be handy as we have had some recent issues with dentally reverting the arrived status back to pending without us noticing due to the P being small.

This would also help reception keep track of who is running late if there was an option it changed colour when they are late

Another software I used, the appt would flash when admin would mark patient as arrived.
