Hello

Just wondering if is there currently a way to view patient images (e.g. XRays on dentally) and type clinical notes at the same time in Dentally?

At the moment, I find myself switching back and forth between the notes section and the image viewer on dentally to cross-reference findings and confirm what I’m writing. It is a bit cumbersome, especially during XRay/OPT interpretation or when reviewing multiple images.

Would it be possible to introduce a floating or resizable image window that stays visible while typing notes? I think this would be a really helpful feature for many of us in practice. Keen to hear if others have found a workaround or if this is something already on the roadmap.

Thanks.

Hey @ay52! Welcome to the Community 👋

Here’s what you can try:

1. Pin & pop-out your image panel (Dentally Vision users)

Open the Clinical History side-panel, switch to the Images tab, then:

  • Resize by dragging the vertical divider (your setting sticks for future sessions)

  • Pin it using the 📌 icon so it stays visible while you type

  • For full-screen real estate, click the “↗️ Open in new tab” button and park that tab next to your Dentally window

Here’s more info on the Clinical History side panel and how to use the images tab on Dentally Vision

With Dentally Vision you can also use the patient’s Cloud Gallery. Hit the “↗️ Open in new tab” arrow and it’s done, full-screen images in one tab, charting in the other

2. Without Dentally Vision

  1. Click an image thumbnail in the chart

  2. Right-click → Open image in new tab/window

  3. Use your OS split-screen by dragging windows to the left or right edge of the screen (Windows: Win+←/→, macOS: long-hold the green button) to lock image & notes side-by-side

Hope one of these two tricks smooths out your workflow! 😊
